Not from Texas but this is one of the best burger joints we ever been to. Food tasted good, it was good quality, customer service was great, and the food came out fast. Anytime I'm in Texas definitely coming back here!

Wanting a smash burger without driving to East Austin & breaking the bank (slight exaggeration, but $16 for a burger without fries is a splurge in this economy). Drive a little further, where you'll find Buddy's, a hidden gem in Austin that demands to be discovered! There are four straightforward options for burgers at Buddy's--do you want your burger mild or spicy, and do you want one paddy or two? Personally, I swear by the #2--The Spicy Burger (single paddy). For spice lovers, this is actually far from spicy, but packed with flavor. The Spicy Burger comes with pepper jack cheese, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, jalapeños, and Buddy's signature spicy smack sauce. I absolutely love how the grilled, minced onions & jalapeños are married together and are melted in with the sauce and cheese. Every bite bursts with vibrant flavor. And the best part? All this deliciousness comes at less than $5! To make it a meal, only $15, WHAT A STEAL. TLDR; Buddy's not only a culinary delight but also a budget-friendly option that doesn't compromise on quality. 5/5 make the drive, you'll thank me later. LOCATION: I personally enjoy the San Marcos better, as it's a stand alone location with ample parking, more spacing, quieter, and cleaner! The northeast location is packed with locals, shares parking with the nearby gas station and restaurants, and is overall more crowded and difficult to navigate once inside. Expect to rub elbows with strangers, as there isn't much seating to accommodate the volume.

I came here because I saw someone ordered a patty melt here and then when I got here, they didn't offer it. Very bummed, but luckily the burger was delicious - juicy, seasoned well, tasty grilled onions and jalapeños, and tasty sauce. I also like how the fries are seasoned (sort of like barbecue chips flavored?)

Delicious burger!!! Ordered the spicy with cheese, seasoned fries and a strawberry lemonade. Really hit the spot!!!

Best burger I've had in a long time. Every ingredient of the burger was well balanced and flavorful. The guy at the counter was AMAZING! From the hello, to the recommendations to samples to ensure we would like what we ordered was top notch. Do yourself a favor and get a lemonade....you are welcome! The atmosphere was good, nothing too fancy but a comfortable place with what I would call community tables. Believe the hype, this burger is amazing.

Very tasty and generously sized burgers for the price. Besides their two usual classic or spicy burgers, the are currently offering their take on a patty melt - the Texas Melt, and it is terrific! Great fries and shakes as well. Counter service, clean and well maintained space. As noted by others, the menu is VERY simple, if you don't want a pretty standard (but excellent) hamburger, you might be disappointed. No list of 27 specialty burgers to pick from. But if you're looking for a great burger in a clean spot at a good price, Buddy's is the bomb, and is going onto our Austin rotation for sure.

Since my original review, I have come back several times with others and gotten the spicy with cheese. It's now one of my fav smash burgers, and definitely beats shack shack in terms of value and taste. In-N-Out is still my fav but they are not smash burgers so different burger categories. The fries here are actually really good, better than the two other restaurants mentioned above. Lastly, I have tried the chocolate shake and it was very unique with a cinnamon flavor. I really enjoyed it. Check your order to make sure it's correct as they got it wrong today.

I went to Buddy's today after seeing it on the Infatuation Smashburger hit list. The menu is simple, which makes it easy to order and to try majority of what they have in one visit. There are two kinds of burgers, classic or spicy, and you can either get them with a single or double patty. Today there was also a special Texan melt limited time only which replicates a patty melt. My friend and I shared, we got the spicy as well as the Texan melt. I am partial to a patty melt, so I absolutely loved the Texan. The bread was the right amount crispy. The jalapeño ranch sauce made it unique and it was just the right amount of flavor and sauce. You can get either regular or seasoned fries. The cashier even brought us a sample of the seasoned fries, the cajun seasoning is good and the fries are the right amount crispy, needless to say we went with two seasoned. For bevvies, there are a handful of shakes, as well as fresh, regular lemonade and mango lemonade, beers and then an assortment of sodas. After seeing the juicer, we went for one lemonade and a coffee milkshake to share. The cashier asked how strong we wanted the coffee, from just taste to wake you up. I wish we had gone with you wake you up instead of medium. The texture and consistency were perfect but I could have used more coffee flavor but that was my fault. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the restaurant ambiance is very casual and simple, indoor seating only (fine a on a day with hail!), and parking spaces.

Really good burgers and fries. One of the better choices in Austin for a quick, delicious burger & fry combo. Add on a milkshake, you won't be disappoint. Will definitely be back.

I live so close and always pass by and hearing so many good things about it. I'm so happy I won an instagram giveaway so I finally didn't have an excuse not to go. We got there at 12:15pm on a Tuesday and the takeout line was pretty long and all the parking spots were full so we parked at the gas station (same parking lot) I was nervous about the wait time since it seemed peak hours. However, the service was friendly and prompt! Our food was out to us in 10 minutes! My burger was delicious and I ate it all. The seasoned fries were good and I can see why people like them but I think I might prefer the unseasoned. We could tell our regular lemonades were freshly squeezed due to the puckered faces we made while we sipped! Haha. I won't order again but my friend raves about the mango lemonade and the shakes. So I'll definitely be back!
